Rhododendron

This Davidsonianum is so pretty, tucked away out of the wind, wedged between a mahonia, various camellias and overlooked by a rather stunted palm tree. Unfortunately it is in an ignominious, dark little pathway that leads up to the old tennis court and therefore mainly unseen

Camellia

No cheap 'gimcracks' these treasures from the Nuccio family. Nuccio's Gem Nuccio's Jewel and Nuccio's Pearl. All quite late flowerers here, but still got plenty of sparkle

Garden Produce

Porthpean's very own Lost Garden. Tucked away out of sight and mind, production still carries on here with serried ranks of spuds and beans, enjoyed in no small measure by inter alia the local rabbit population

Home grown seedlings

This year camellia seedlings have been popping up all over the place. Here are two home-grown ones from olden days: Charlotte Petherick (left) and Porthpean (right), both williamsii hybrids from Mary Christian seeds, but unknown pollen parents
